“Spending all my life in the parallel worlds of urban and country living, gave me the inspiration to create Matyodesign. Forgotten patterns, undervalued local talent, and a seemingly redundant culture – I envisioned how these elements could perfectly flow into today’s fashion world. All our products are embroidered by local artisans, whether it be my childhood nanny, schoolteacher or one of the many talented ladies of the village. I feel it is my responsibility to pass along the knowledge between generations and keep the Matyo culture alive. I believe every step that we take is directed in giving back a little bit of the miracle I experienced in my childhood.” Rozi Váczi, CEO
Matyodesign handmade products are providing work to women in Tard, a small northeast Hungarian village and Unesco World Heritage Site. They create products that are majestic in design, have a high standard of quality and celebrate the invidualality of the Matyodesign culture. It is their mission to keep the Matyo culture alive with ethical business practices and by creating sustainable income opportunities for the Matyodesign artisans.
